4SIGHT are a charity supporting people with sight loss and a membership organisation, based in West Sussex. They provide services to improve health and wellbeing, promote independence and prevent social isolation. They also provide information, advice and practical support to anyone with sight impairment, carers, families and other organisations.
4SIGHT operates with a small staff team and several hundred volunteers. They rely on fundraising, events, donations, legacies and other activities to the meet the annual costs involved in running 4SIGHT.
4SIGHT desperately need to find 2 stewards with 1 car for Sunday, 15th May 2016. Anne Tomlinson, Events Coordinator is in the process of organising a sponsored tandem ride to raise money for the organisation.
The ride will consist of a maximum of 14 tandems plus 2 triplets (tandem with an extra saddle) who will ride 40 miles through Mid Sussex. Most of the people on the back (stokers) will be blind or severely visually impaired and The Haywards Heath Town Mayor and 4SIGHT’s Chief Executive will be on one of the triplets .
The stewards would be required to keep ahead of the bikes to see people are going in the right direction and ensuring that they negotiate junctions, etc. safely. The front riders (pilots) are all very experienced cyclists. The stewards will need to “leapfrog” the bikes to get to the next junction before them.
The ride starts and finishes at The Thatched Inn in Hassocks and leaves at approximately 10.30 a.m. returning at around 3.30 p.m.
